LETS GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD...
Red Marines is a psychedelic music and arts festival in California. It has been around for more than 10 years and usually brings a large number of DJ's from all the world to one location for 3 days. It has an interesting story. 3 brothers, all recent immigrants from the Soviet Union, become US Marines. Two younger brothers who are also twins, Marik and Valik Tarasov, were sent to Iraq. Upon their return, their older brother, Eugene Tarasov, decided to organize a big homecoming party for them and that was the very first Red Marines festival. If you'd like to know more about it, please read this article in East Bay Times.
Well, there's a first time for everything. And this time, it's our first time for an outdoor art show. Eugene Tarasov, who is a friend of mine, has been organizing this awesome psychedelic trance music festival for years. So I thought, "hmm, maybe it's time to introduce all these ravers to some art as well?". So here we are. Renting a real art booth (and learning how to set one up), renting a van, loading it up and setting for Sierra Nevada foothills. We're now part of the Red Marines clan.
Somewhere along the way, our neighbor (he came for the festival all the way from Panama!) came by and asked me, "Did you ever thought of eliminating your art work with a black light?". "Crazy", I thought to myself but agreed. What happened next is captured in this video. The paintings by the amazing and very innovative Lobsang Durney came to light, black light! You should have seen the Red Marines ravers when they saw Lobsang's painting :)
How much are the tickets?
